The Department of Physiological Sciences of UFSCar was created in December of 1990, and it includes the areas of Human Physiology, Comparative Animal Physiology, Biophysics, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology and Molecular Biology. The DCF has nine faculty members, all of whom are PhD holders. All faculty members are post-graduation supervisors strictu sensu in several Postgraduate Programs. The DCF was responsible for the creation, in 1992, of the Postgraduate Program in Physiological Sciences (PPGCF / UFSCar). From 2009, this program became the Joint Graduate Program in Physiological Sciences UFSCar / UNESP (PIPGCF-UFSCar / UNESP), in association with UNESP. Since 2001, the DCF Exercise Physiology Laboratory has offered the Specialization Course in Exercise Physiology, having trained more than 600 specialists in this area. Since 2016, the DCF Pharmacology Laboratory has offered the Specialization in Clinical Pharmacology and non-pharmacological approaches in clinical practice.
